MoMA Exclusive: A new interpretation of the traditional wicker market bag found in the souks of Morocco, this design from Naterra is a beautiful study in contrasts. Crafted in Marrakech, Morocco, this Basket Bag’s river-straw body is fitted with contrast-color leather handles, exterior accents and an interior pocket. Known as Morocco or French Maroquin leather, this vegetable-tanned lamb leather is known for its softness, pliability and ability to take color. It’s widely used in the manufacture of luxury gloves, shoes linings for fine luggage. The dyes are made from local plants and the colors chosen by Naterra are of a desert palette.
